A child who writes to Santa waits for an answer. The surest way not to disappoint them is to make sure one comes: a letter from Santa, in their own letterbox, with their name on it.

You write it, and we print it in colour and post it to them, tracked, from $10. No printer, no envelope and no December queue at the post office.

The North Pole has a postcode

Santa Mail opens on 11 November 2026. In 2024 and 2025, children handed their letter in at a Post Office and got Santa's reply on the spot.

Santa Mail, or a letter from Santa

Santa Mail is Australia Post's. Take your child and their letter to a Post Office, and Santa's reply comes back across the counter. It's free, and the trip is half the fun if you have the time.

A letter from Santa is yours. You write it, so it can name their best friend, the dog and the thing they were brave about this year. It arrives at home, tracked, and you never leave the house.

Do both if you like: Santa Mail for the outing, and a letter from Santa that turns up a week before Christmas.

What to put in it

  • A detail only Santa would know. The new school, the first lost tooth, riding without training wheels. It's what makes the letter believable.
  • Answer their letter. If they wrote to Santa, reply to what they said, without promising the present.
  • News from the North Pole. The weather, how busy the elves are, what the reindeer got up to.
  • Something for next year. A thing to keep trying at, or to keep being kind about.
  • Sign it from Santa, in big curly writing, or with a signature you scan in.

What that looks like

A short one, to a six-year-old in Geelong:

Dear Mia,

Thank you for your letter. The elves pinned it on the workshop wall, right next to the map of Australia.

I heard you lost your first tooth in October and were very brave about it. Rudolph lost one once too, but please don't tell him I told you.

It's minus 30 here and snowing again, so I hope Geelong is warmer. Keep looking after your little brother. The elves have noticed.

With a big Christmas hug,
Santa

Make it look like it came from the North Pole

  • Write it by hand, in red or green pen, then scan it with your phone: Notes or Files on an iPhone, Google Drive on Android. An iPhone photo works too.
  • Or type it, in a big friendly font, and upload it as a PDF or Word file.
  • Add some colour. A holly border, a drawing of the workshop, a photo of the reindeer. We print in colour at no extra cost.
  • Keep it to a page. A six-year-old will read one page many times over.

Send it without leaving the house

Upload the letter, type your child's name and address, and pay. We print it, put it in an Australia Post envelope and post it.

  • $10 by regular post, tracked, for up to 12 pages, folded.
  • $20 by Express Post, flat in a B4 envelope, usually there the next business day.
  • Paid by 2:30pm Melbourne time on a business day, posted that day. The tracking number is emailed to you.

Get to the letterbox first

Your name and address are printed on the envelope as the return address, so the letter comes back to you if it can't be delivered. It has to be your own, not Santa's.

So check the letterbox before they do. The tracking shows the day Australia Post delivers it. Hand it over as it is, or tuck the letter into a North Pole envelope of your own.

When to send it for Christmas

We post from Melbourne. Australia Post's last days to send for Christmas 2026 are:

  • Regular post within Victoria: Monday 21 December.
  • Regular post interstate: Friday 18 December.
  • Express Post: Wednesday 23 December, or Tuesday 22 December to WA and the NT.

Those are the last days, not the best ones. Send it in the first week of December and it's there with days to spare. Dates are from Australia Post's Christmas page, checked on 26 October 2026.

Common questions

Can I post my child a letter from Santa without going to the post office?

Yes. Write it, upload it as a PDF, Word file or photo, and add your child's address. We print it in colour and post it, tracked, from $10.

Does Australia Post reply to letters to Santa?

Through Santa Mail. In 2024 and 2025, children handed their letter in at a Post Office and got Santa's reply there and then, with no stamp needed. Santa Mail opens again on 11 November 2026.

What's Santa's address in Australia?

Santa, North Pole 9999. The North Pole has its own postcode on Australia Post's list, and it's in Victoria.

When should I post a letter from Santa?

In the first week of December. Australia Post's last days for Christmas letters in 2026 are 18 December interstate and 21 December within Victoria, and we post from Melbourne.

The short version

Write the reply they're hoping for, with a detail only Santa would know. We print it and post it, in colour and tracked, from $10, so it's in their letterbox before Christmas and you skip the post office.
